Hamilton is the K-4 traditional school for students whose home schools are Hay, Lincoln, Madison, Monroe, and Nuner
. Traditional schools are designed to provide students the opportunity for academic, social and emotional growth in a highly structured, back-to-basics environment. The schools place a strong emphasis on high academic standards, student responsibility, and active parental involvement. Enrollment is controlled by the district, capacity and racial compliance. Transportation is provided to all students who live outside the walk area for the school.

Here at Hamilton Traditional School, we are excited about the changes being made within the South Bend Community School Corporation for the 2018-2019 school year. Recently, a new plan was voted into place that created changes for all of the elementary, middle and high schools. Details about Focus 2018 can be found on the corporation’s web site (www.sb.school).

For Hamilton, it means that we will get to keep our students an extra year, since 5th grade will be moved to the elementary schools. Our school day will also be extended from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. beginning next year. One of the things we are most excited about is that our boundaries have also been extended! This means we will be able to accept applications for next year from students who live within the boundaries of the following seven schools:  Hay, Lincoln, Madison, Monroe, Nuner, Harrison and Wilson.

Focus 2018  now allows students who are in the Wilson and Harrison district to apply to Hamilton, and provides transportation for those students. The Magnet Application window is open until February 16th. Applications can be obtained and submitted online or in our office.

The enclosed brochure tells you more about Hamilton Traditional School. We look forward to the opportunity of working with you and providing the educational program that best fits your student. Please spread the word, and if questions arise, please feel free to call our school office at (574) 393-2100.
